About Me

My name is Armaan Thandhi, and I am a 21-year-old student at Simon Fraser University. I am in my fourth year studying Business Administration and Resource and Environmental Management. Presently, I am working a co-op with British Columbia’s Ministry of Forests, specifically the Innovation, Bioeconomy, and Opportunities Branch, where I serve as a Junior Indigenous Bioeconomy Analyst.

I have amassed a variety of work experience across the public, private, and non-profit sectors. Aside from working in the B.C. Public Service, I have worked as a Research Intern with the Downtown Surrey BIA and a Teaching Assistant at SFU’s Beedie School of Business, in addition to brief stints working in retail and political canvassing.

My extensive involvement in my community stems from my passion for volunteering and making an impact. Some causes I am particularly passionate about are climate action, equitable and just economics, mental health awareness, and social justice and human rights. I am an executive with SFU’s chapters of Student Energy and Amnesty International. Outside of school, I am currently a Youth Advisor for CityHive Vancouver and Foundry BC and a Co-Designer for the Y-CARE (Youth Co-Designing Adaptations for Resilience and Empowerment) in the Climate Crisis program with Stanford CIRCLE (Community-minded Interventions for Resilience, Climate Leadership, and Emotional well-being). Previously, I have also volunteered as an ambassador for re-generation‘s Re-work Your Future campaign.

Additionally, I am the Co-Chief Sustainability Officer at the Vancouver Kindness Movement, where I work alongside several of my friends to promote volunteerism, kindness, and community impact. I have facilitated events such as food bank volunteering, park/school/shoreline cleanups, and youth basketball camps in collaboration with organizations and initiatives like the Greater Vancouver Food Bank and Pacific Northwest (PNW) Climate Week.

Lately, I have been expanding upon my writing portfolio. I am the founder of Greyscale, a Substack page dedicated to discussing ways to democratize our society and economy while representing working-class perspectives. Having recently joined The Starfish Canada’s Youth Journal as a Writer, you can also find some of my articles there.

Lastly, I enjoy dabbling in various creative ventures in my spare time, from writing poetry and short stories to producing music! You can find one of these works – my previous podcast, Thoughts Unchained – here.
