Y-CARE in the Climate Crisis by Stanford CIRCLE

Y-CARE (Youth Co-Designing Adaptations for Resilience and Empowerment) in the Climate Crisis is a project where youth aged 16-25 from Canada, the United States, and Australia work alongside researchers from Stanford Psychiatry’s CIRCLE (Community-minded Interventions for Resilience, Climate, Leadership, and Emotional well-being) to co-design a youth-led peer support program for youth experiencing climate anxiety and/or distress. I reviewed literature on relevant research and similar programs existing elsewhere, helped design the program curriculum, and worked with the research team and co-designers to identify potential strengths and weaknesses of the proposed program every step of the way.

Propel Impact’s Foundations Certificate

From April to July 2025, I participated in Propel Impact’s Foundations Certificate. Here, I analyzed a blue economy startup company and provided recommendations on how they should move forward as a company. Over 12 weeks, I completed assignments on market research, feasibility studies, financial analysis, and more. In the end, I placed within the top 75 of 240+ certificate participants, reaching the interview stage for their Impact Consulting Fellowship.

Public Hearings: A Praxis for Access

“Public Hearings: A Praxis for Access” is a presentation prepared by myself and my team members for a cohort called Civic Innovators: Renovate the Public Hearing. In this cohort, groups were tasked with researching barriers to effectiveness of, and public participation in, public hearings. Through my group’s research, we identified key issues in the public hearing process, including accessibility of place and time. With our research in mind, we presented policy recommendations on how to improve public hearings to 60+ people, including mayors and councillors from Comox, Coquitlam, and other BC municipalities, and policy analysts. This cohort was run by CityHive Vancouver.

Raising Canada 2023 Report – Top 10 Threats to Childhood in Canada

Raising Canada is an annual report compiled by Children First Canada that outlines the top 10 threats to the wellbeing of children and youth in Canada. In 2023, I had the opportunity to contribute as a CFC Youth Advisor by giving my input on the report, contributing where I felt there were gaps in the analysis of threats.

The Surrey School District and Surrey Police Service (previously, the Surrey RCMP) ran a program called the Next 100 Years, which focused on pairing elementary school-aged youth in Grades 6 and 7 with high school students within their cachement. As a high school mentor in the program, I led weekly presentations and activities on themes including citizenship, leadership, anti-racism, identity, and culture. This included both virtual facilitation during the COVID-19 pandemic, and in-person classroom activities post-pandemic.

In 2023, Foundry BC posted a callout for B.C. municipalities to apply for Foundry centres in their communities. I reviewed the applications, assessing them based on commitments to EDI and Indigenous reconciliation, service delivery, governance systems, and other criteria.

Alumni Engagement Strategy

CityHive Vancouver recently began developing its Alumni Engagement Strategy (AES) to improve retention of program alumni and expand a network of past participants.
